Advances in Adhesive
and "Bonded" Dentistry

TODAY'S DENTISTRY . . .
It 'ain't' what it used to be.

REALLY!!

So, it's time for your dental checkup; or to select a new dentist because you have just moved to the area and don't know who to see; or for various other reasons you are trying to find a new dentist.

In the case of the check up, you know you don't want to go but also know you really need to. Finding a new dentist can be particularly difficult. You are nervous and uncertain because you don't know who to select or how you will be treated by this new person.

Whether it be for the routine check up or finding a new dentist, thanks to new advances in dentistry, what we can offer today is significantly different and better than just a few short years ago. All with one objective. To improve what is available to you - the patient.

For instance, in our office the objective is to make your visit with us as comfortable and pleasant as possible. You'll first notice this when you talk to any of the personnel in our office, whether it be on the phone or in person. You will be made to feel welcome and at home. When you enter the office you'll notice that it doesn't look like an office. You will immediately feel more relaxed because it is more like entering your own home.

In addition to the usual ways of making you comfortable while your treatment is done, there is the option of watching TV or videos. The videos can be ones that you bring in or relaxing ones chosen from our library. This all occurs while you are lying back with your own head phones. Both adults and kids appreciate this option.

Advances in Adhesive and "Bonded" Dentistry

The scientific side of modern dentistry has given us a wide range of new options and opportunities. One of those areas is in adhesive or "bonded" dentistry. This has application both in the front and the back of the mouth. The photos of successful applications on the left illustrate a few of the things we can do.

If you have a smile that you don't like because of discolored, crooked, chipped, or misshapen teeth; or space between teeth, it can possibly be corrected with different bonding options. The discoloration might simply be treatable with bleaching alone.

If you have back teeth that are breaking and falling apart because of weakness created by the fillings in them; or you have ugly fillings that you don't want to see, these teeth can be made stronger as well as made to look "natural" with various bonding techniques. Our office is capable of providing care in all these areas.

If you are missing teeth and you need support where teeth do not exist, whether it be in a few areas or throughout your whole mouth, we will give you information about implants (artificial roots) that can be placed. These roots can then support new crowns (caps), bridges or dentures.

If you want to learn more about how periodontal (gum) disease leads to the loss of teeth without symptoms of pain, we will tell you more about this. Or, you may want to know how the embarrassing problem of halitosis (bad breath) may have some simple solutions.

These are only a few of the options of care that today's dentistry offers. If we can be of further assistance to you let us know. Our telephone number, FAX number, and address are included.

In closing, let me leave you with the standard by which I practice dentistry and which our whole office believes in:

If I wouldn't recommend a certain type of care for my wife, my daughters, my mother or my father, I won't ever recommend it for you or your family.

Always,
Russell Hanson, D.D.S.

P.S. Read our column every other Wednesday in the Louisville Times or the Lafayette News on "Your Dental Health."

P.P.S. Today's Dentistry is different. There is a ton of improved benefits available to augment the older stand-bys to improve your quality of life.
